こんにちは、
久々の投稿です。その後未だにKnoppix構築作業に戻って来れず３週間にも及ぶ
Debian環境の明け暮れが続いて居りましたが今朝方遅くになって（徹夜 :)やっと
満足な結果が出せるまでになりました。
woody (stable) のままで良いのなら何も言うことはありませんが所詮趣味だし
生来の新しい物好きな正確がどうしてもwoody -> sid (unstable)へのエラーのない
アップグレードをしたいと毎日・毎日apt-getの日々でした。
もう殆どギブアップ状態のところ、aptitudeを使うことにより抱えていた難問は
嘘のように一挙に解決しました。
これからのDebian/Knoppix環境では可能な限りapt-getの使用は止め、安全な
aptitudeを使って行くことに決定・決断しました。
woody->sidが目的でapt-get dist-upgradeをやろうものなら一気に破綻でした。
かと言ってdselectの深い泥沼にはもう二度と入りたくないです。
aptitudeは高機能taskselだけでなくapt-getの殆どをカバーしています。
勿論 'aptitude update ; aptitude upgrade' は同じです。
こんな感じです：

unmarkauto - Mark packages as having been manually installed
update - Download lists of new/upgradable packages
upgrade - Perform a safe upgrade
dist-upgrade - Perform an upgrade, possibly installing and removing packages
forget-new - Forget what packages are "new"
search - Search for a package by name and/or expression
clean - Erase downloaded package files
autoclean - Erase old downloaded package files
download - Download the .deb file for a package
Options:
-h This help text
-s Simulate actions, but do not actually perform them.
-d Only download packages, do not install or remove anything.
-P Always prompt for confirmation or actions
-y Assume that the answer to simple yes/no questions is 'yes'
-F format Specify a format for displaying search results; see the manual
-w width Specify the display width for formatting search results
-f Aggressively try to fix broken packages.
-V Show which versions of packages are to be installed.
-D Show the dependencies of automatically changed packages.
-v Display extra information. (may be supplied multiple times)
--with(out)-recommends, --with(out)-suggests
Specify whether or not to treat recommends (suggests) as
strong dependencies
-S fname: read the aptitude extended status info from fname.
-u : Download new package lists on startup.
-i : Perform an install run on startup.
